Introducing The Escape Edit
THE ESCAPE EDIT
Real advice & suggestions from real people for real people.
If you have traveled with us in the past then you can confirm that we gals chat. A lot. Regardless of the location, we chat on hikes, at meals, between classes, activities & excursions (perhaps even during activities & excursions), with or without cocktails, lounging poolside and anytime in between. We chat about life & love, fitness & wellness, what to watch, products to use, places to eat, books to read, music to listen to. You name it, and I’m quite sure we have chatted about it. And, yes, men join us and trust me, some of them are quite chatty, too!
Over the years I’ve often thought to myself, ‘what an untapped resource we have in the knowledge of each of our guests!' From the best restaurants and travel tips to ‘must have’ beauty products, fantastic hair stylists/colorists and doctors. The list goes on and on and you just never know what gems of knowledge will rise to the surface. So, beginning today we are starting THE ESCAPE EDIT- a compilation of unsolicited, unscripted, unprompted and completely unbiased 'favorites' based on wherever the conversations of that particular week take us. Sometimes it may be short and sweet, perhaps even a bit haphazard as our thoughts often jump from place to place- but it will always relay the vetted suggestions of our guests. Real advice and suggestions from real people for real people.
This first ESCAPE EDIT is a mix between the take-aways from our recent Escape To Shape: Cartagena, Bhutan and Lake Como trips which gathered together an interesting crew from across the US + a few Europeans- from supermoms to music producers; style ambassadors to radio personalities, lawyers, dancers, beauty editors, real estate experts, doctors, designers, philanthropists & marketers. A wide range of guests, with an even wider range of opinions. The below list is what I was able to either remember or had randomly jotted down from our numerous conversations. Moving forward, I will take much better notes ;) so you can expect more info + insight.
Also, please keep in mind that personalities, likes, dislikes, skin types, etc all are different so what one person may love, you may not, and that is OK!
Vintner's Daughter- The Active Botanical Serum is often referred to as the holy grail of beauty products, and for good reason. All natural, packing a lot of potent power into each tiny drop, leaving your skin balanced, refreshed & protected. There is a reason it reached celebrity cult status quickly and has maintained the claim!
Biologique Recherche Lotion P50- Another product with a cult following, also for good reason! It's not actually a lotion, and you never swipe it on, you always blot it on to the skin. This is my personal go-to favorite, for whatever that is worth!
Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum- Her products are popping up into more and more conversations with clients from coast to coast. Backed by years of scientific research, made in small batches in Germany with just a few highly potent ingredients, this is a product I ran out to try as soon as I returned to the US and I've been thrilled with the results. I have our guests to thank!
ZIIP- This product was mentioned by a couple of guests in more than one group, but it was not until I actually tried it myself (thanks to my personal beauty guru & dear friend Daria Hines who owns the super chic 'Daria Tulum' boutique) that I understood what all the hype was about. Micro + nano currents to lift, tone, sculpt, ease fine lines, smooth skin... need I say more!
Glopro + Glopro Skin Prep Pads- The prep pads cleanse the skin for maximum effectiveness of the Glopro infrared micro needling device. Improving the tone of the skin as well as stimulating collegian production- with visibly fresher, plumper & firmer skin in weeks.
ELEMIS Pro Collegian Cleansing Balm
Eminence Organic Skincare
All the obvious ones, like Billions, Outlanders, The Marvelous Mrs. Mazel, Big Little Lies & Handmaids Tale plus...
After looking up the above two suggests I have a feeling the recommendations came out of the same conversation.
I Love Dick- A TV series set in Marfa, TX. I cant wait to check it out although I heard it only survived one season...
The Magic Pill
Oldies by Tina Turner were a hit with our Lake Como group; as well as some R&B & Soul music that I cannot wait to share- written & produced by one of our guests, but until it's released our lips are sealed!
Sophia of Silicon Valley by Anna Yen- written by one of our guests friends, is supposedly a comical take on being a women in Silicon Valley.
The Coddling of the American Mind by Greg Lukianoff & Jonathan Haidt
Nine Perfect Strangers by Liana Moriarty
A Gentleman In Moscow by Amor Towles
Even This I Get To Experience by Norman Lear
Educated by Tara Westover
Superiority Burger, NYC for amazing vegan burgers
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Copenhagen, Denmark. You may not be able to get into Noma, but you can get into this museum!
The End, Joshua Tree- Vintage shop recommended by one of our very stylish Marrakech guests
And while I will in no way ever control the conversations, I do hope that over time TED talk, podcasts, journalists, artists, things I have yet to even think of, etc. will be added to THE ESCAPE EDIT. Those types of conversations happen quite frequently, it's just a matter of me capturing it while still staying present to the moment. ;)
Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to receive THE ESCAPE EDIT as soon as it become available after each Escape! And feel free to share...
