My vacation with Escape To Shape to Morocco was one of my favorite vacations yet! The Escape To Shape team was a ton of fun, very attentive and knowledgeable, making me feel safe and comfortable in an exotic place. Having traveled much of Europe and other parts of the world, this was a preferable way to experience a country and culture fully. The itinerary was full of experiential cultural activities. The yoga and exercise programs were well woven into the experience as a whole. The accommodations were great and had obviously been given much care and thought. The food was wonderful and true to the culture. There was much laughing and moments of peace and relaxation. All in all, if you are thinking of planning a great vacation with great people and experiences, Escape To Shape is the way to go. I will definitely be joining them on more trips!

Packing List

  • Valid Passport: Passport must be valid for six months past date of exit.
  • For Women: Pants and sleeved shirts (that cover your shoulders) are recommended for the airport and the Medina. Morocco is a Muslim country and while they do not expect foreign women to be completely covered it is advised that you respect their tradition and wear pants or skirts that come to your knees, and sleeved shirts that cover your shoulders, when in public Arab places, such as the airport and the Medina. For those that are interested, Marrakech has quite a few chic restaurants, lounges and nightclubs. You can wear anything you like once inside, provided that you “cover” yourself appropriately until you have entered. While at the Villa, your home for the week, you can wear anything you like.
  • Comfortable Walking Shoes: That you can wear hiking, along with comfortable shoes for exploring the souks and Medina (comfortable sandals are fine for the souks and Medina, but an athletic or hiking shoe with support is needed for the Atlas Mountain hike).
  • Workout Clothes: You can wear anything you like for yoga/fitness classes that are held at the Villa. But, for WOMEN, workout pants that come to your knees and a t-shirt that covers your shoulders are requested for the hikes/walks through local villages and the Atlas Mountains. Tank tops and sports-bra type of tops are not recommended for these hikes, unless you bring/wear a t-shirt over them that you can put on and off as needed.
  • Layers: As it cools off once the sun sets — pants, sweater, socks and a light jacket are good to have with you. Typically it is WARM during the day, but it does cool down once the sun sets!
  • A Hat: To protect you from the sun while hiking or lounging by the pool.
  • Personal Toiletries: Shampoo, body wash & a hair dryer can be found in each room.
  • Sunscreen
  • Swim Suit & Lounge Wear
  • Camera & Chargers
  • Adaptors for Electrical Outlets: Morocco uses the same type of plugs as used in Europe.
  • OPTIONAL – School Supplies for the local school: If interested, you are welcome to bring school supplies, coloring books, crayons, small toys, etc for the local children in our village. We will be visiting a local school as part of our morning walk on one of the days, and the children appreciate any items you may want to give them. This is completely optional.
